Tom Binns Jewellery. No idea how much it costs, no desire to know. I've been seeing a few of these all over the internet lately and eventually had to look through the entire website. So epic. The necklace on the top far right is my favourite of course. Is he the one responsible for inspiring all the dishevelled jewels lately? I've already made my own DIY Binns creation that I am very proud of and will be wearing with all black.
Raymi has some pretty great style. She always dresses her way and always looks like the most fun person in the room. This photo is actually from a post where she discusses the total absurdity of fashion blogs...
"why do i feel like i even have to justify this outfit (socks/skirt) i dunno, maybe the surplus of smug fashion groupie blogs out there fellating the very character of every single designer’s fucking soul these days? it comes off very us vs. them. ugh. you are from the sticks dude, you aren’t the darling of fashion all of a sudden just cos you figured out some magazines. sharpie and i were discussing this last saturday and she was very much in agreement on it, how ridic. it is for so many young girls to have access to such expensive of-the-moment wares and like, the monster it’s making of them. what say them in ten years time, how fulfilled? but anyway that gets into the whole is fashion bad for our self esteem territory, not goin’ there sorry. i enjoy cycling through chick’s fashion blogs just as much as the other guy but it gets to a point where you’re like um who are you talking about now? you are 15 years old and you’re gushing over some name that took me five minutes to phonetically pronounce in my head, this makes you scene queen because you spent 400 dollars on a falling apart blouse that you will despise next year?
bah. fashion is good and it is goofy, basically. i don’t think you have the right to be a snob regarding h&m, forever 21 (never been), AA, UO etc etc ever period, it’s pretty much being classist i feel, down right elitist (snore) and well, you come off a wee bit u-n-l-i-k-e-a-b-l-e. if you can afford expensive shit fine, just don’t be a poseur about it because you can’t purchase cool cool. ever."
Can I just say, that for all my love of many a designer's work, I couldn't agree with this more. Fashion is for fun, it's art and it's expression, it shouldn't be about snobbery. (Also, Raymi, please don't be mad I re-published this/stole your photo, I just couldn't have said it better myself. Tell me if you want it taken down.)
On an unrelated note, lately I have been noticing that a lot of men's fashion is really inspiring me. Is it just me, or are boys trying way harder these days? For example, on the skytrain this morning, I saw a dude who looked just like Devendra Banhart. His outfit was really spectacular and I am kicking myself for not sticking to my promise to myself to never be without a camera anymore. Describing an outfit just isn't the same, but it consisted of a ton of jewellery, a brown suede vest and really perfect hair.
Picture of Devendra from here. If I was a guy, this is exactly how I would want to look. Actually, this probably is how I would look.
